A/C Evaporator Replacement 850 1994

I am looking at replacing the A/C evaportator on my non turbo 1994 Volvo 850. The shop manual gives a good detailed ripout instruction which includes removal of the dashboard proper.

I'd be interested in any advise anyone has who has undertaken this job. Also are the Volvo disconnect fittings any different than other auto makes? I.e. can a quick disconnect tool for a ford or chysler be used to remove the hoses to the evaporator and the heater?

Any advise and guidance is appreciated.
