I'll try to get some pix this weekend of bracket mods. S70 2000

It only took about an hour, and I'll try to get digital pix this weekend. But here are the basics

PROBLEM
Lower part of light doesn't lift into the airdam, so the lights are aimed too low.

SOLUTION
1) lower bracket mount.
a) Cut the lower bracket mount on the airdam flush with the edge of the airdam. Hacksaw or something - takes 15 secs.
b) Bend lower tang back (toward rear of car) about 3/8 inch. (The metal bracket is very strong; I had to make a relief cut with the hacksaw on the inside part of the curve. I coated this area with black rustoleum to prevent future corrosion.) - takes 10 mins per side.
Lift light into airdam and re-attach. Use adjusting mechanism to raise lights further.

2) upper bracket mount.
Remove upper screw, and using washers or hex nuts, shim the upper mount about 1/4-inch back. (use a hex nut or washers as spacers, and re-insert the screw through the centers.) This further raises the aim of lights.

3). side mounts (optional)
a) remove silicone goop around edge of fixture.
b) remove outboard screws (#25 torx if I remember)
c) shim 3/16 or so with hex nut or washers, i.e., use hex nuts as spacers and re-insert screws through centers.
d) apply silicone goop if you want
This will aim the lights a few degrees more to the shoulders of the road for better around-the-corner lighting at night. - about 15-20mins per side.

If you have DOT lenses, these modifications will substantially improve your night lighting. (With E-code headlight lenses, which have a more focused light pattern, these modifications don't improve straight-ahead lighting dramatically, but they WILL improve shoulder and cornering illumination..and of course, the lights look better when they fit in the airdam properly.)

Later model 70's and 70XC's (different airdam) don't seem to have the fitment problem, so Volvo must have corrected the mistake along the way.
