Battery under warranty 850 1997

See 'Dead in the water'posted yesterday. short story is no power, no water (or little, I added approx 1/3 Gal) in cells. Battery 9 months old, & is under warranty for replacement. Dealership is unpleasant experience & too busy for one who didn't originally purchase there. No appointment til Tues. The dead battery cost $138! with $95 labor for $250. At least they washed the car, and I really didn't want to go back after that. What would you do? Shop for an Interstate or Delco, & throw it in there, & drive away? Or, deal with the dealership where it takes 5 calls to get to talk to someone, & I need to consider a mortgage to pay?
Thanks
