burning oil 850 1997

How many miles since you last changed it? Turbo engines tend to use (burn) more oil than non-turbo engines and if it's not leaking, it's burning. As long as it's not "excessive" (like more than 1 qt per 1000 miles) then I'd just keep that in mind and check/add when needed vs your alternative of spending ALOT of money to have engine work performed. If it's burning (not leaking externally), the causes are 1) oil control piston rings 2) valve guide seals 3) turbo oil seals (front or rear) but either requires rebuilding or replacing the turbo IF that's the cause.
It's alot easier and cheaper to just know how often you need to add, then check and add as required.
