AC problems 850 1993

Reversed Polarity---that's not good.

Was the AC and Fan ON when the jumber cables were reversed? How about the Radio or Hazard lights/turn signals? Did you actually turn the Ignition Key to the ON but not START position before the cables were correctly installed? this would have allowed the reverse flow of the current to systems that were ON at the time.

Could explain the whole problem.

probably burnt out a diode or something in the fan when the circuit was reversed.

you should probably check for voltage on both sides of the Fan switch also if possible.

How is the Charging sysytem-alternator & voltage regulator?

Dan
