Should I buy this car? S40-V40 2002

I've read this board and the Edmunds.com board on the S40. If I go by the Edmunds board, I would run as fast as possible from this car and never look back. The users on this board seem to like the car. I am looking to purchase a 2002 S40. Is it worth the money? I like the ride and the interior a lot, but worry about reliability and future trade-in value. Ideas or suggestions? Thanks.
