Hose off airbox? 850 1996

A few months ago I was just kinda poking around under the hood of my '96 850, and I found something. There is a hose that leads from the airbox out to the front of the car. It then squeezes through an opening just on top of the driver's side horn. The end of the hose is bent up here, and there was a plastic piece that was screwed into place to cover the opening and hold the hose there. I removed these screws (i believe i had to use a hex) and pulled the hose out a bit and made it straight--instant free ram air! I did notice a slight difference, but i guess if you tampered with it a bit more, modified the hose, or something like that, you might see slightly more of a gain.
