broken sunroof rail V70-XC70 1998

Our sunroof mysteriously broke while driving home from having another problem fixed (OUT of warranty) at our Volvo dealership. They claim it was not their fault, and would be close to $400 to repair...a broken right side sunroof track. Is this something we can do on our own? My husband is capable, but is a little leery of this particular job...He cares to work more on our 1990 240DL than he does the V70. The manual doesn't seem to give to much info on the subject.
