Replacing stock stereo 850 1996

Kyun

Installing an aftermarket stereo is relatively easy depending on how elaborate you want to get. The double din opening that is stock in 850s is actually divided into two single din openings by a small bar that runs from front to back (of the opening) halfway up both sides of the opening. There are already spaces in the opening to allow for the flanges of standard single din installation sleeves to be bent into. If you don't want a panel under your new headunit, you can install a pocket that fits a single din opening, and almost any good install bay could sell you one for about 20 bucks. Of course, adding amps, new speakers and subs will complicate things for you, though each has dividends in sound quality.

Good luck

Perry
