Oil Pick-up O-ring Replacement 850 1993

Does anyone that has done the oil pick-up o-ring replacement have any tips to pass along on how difficult this job is? I have looked through old posts trying to find some specific information, and still have some doubts. Is it correct that the subframe needs to be dropped to get the oil pan out. How is the engine supported during this process? Are there more o-rings to replace other than the oil tube pick-up and oil pump? I have an intermittent valve tapping that I would like to cure, but am not sure if I should undertake this job myself, or take it to a shop to have done.

Thanks.
