Tinted Windows??? S70 1998

Eric,

I live in upstate NY, where the law is that the tint must let in at least 70% in the front and rear side windows, and the back window is anything you want. All my rear windows in my dark blue '98 S70 are tinted with a hybrid-metallic blue/black Madico 20% tint. The front two windows are the same except at 30% tint. I travel to Canada pretty often, never have any problems at the border. I've been through a bunch of DWI checkpoints, seat-belt checkpoints, no problems. I have received two speeding tickets in the last year, one at night the other in the day. NYS Trooper didn't ask or say anything about the tint and neither did the Town cop. Sidenote both tickets were returnable in the same court (arrgh!), but I took no plea-bargaining and made the NYS Trooper look silly on the stand and recieved a dismissal for the ticket (73 in a 55mph). The other ticket, I'm trying right (to be continued next week) now as pro-se, and I'm smelling victory there as well. End of digression, the shop that did my tint told about the law, but they have never heard of anyone get problems for it. Same here. Btw. the car interior still gets hot on hot days, ambient temp. in the car, but it doesn't burn in there, plus I also use a windshield screen, and ventilate the sun-roof.
