It's not that we all bought Volvos because we're complete morons. V70-XC70

Hello John: sorry I've taken so long to respond to your post but I am running a little behind. anyways, what I was referring to was some of the widespread problems with the earlier V70'S.

1.Headlamps that burn out in 6 months to a year. (problem corrected in 2002 V70 production) the remaining V70"s had a TSB to install new wiring harness for headlamps.

2. Defective throttle control modules. (the V70 is "drive by wire")which caused everything from stalling, hesitation, no start etc. I'm not sure if the module was re-engineered for 2002.

3. Brake rotors that warp and brake pads that wear out in 15,000 miles.

4. ABS Module - goes bad and renders your ABS and traction control inoperative.

5. Defective fuel tanks that leak fuel.

6. Interior door trim panels that de-laminate (vinyl bubbles and peels off of panel)

7. assorted electrical glitches, demons and ghosts. (2002 V70 uses mutliplexing)

I suggest that you search the past V70 forums and you can see some of the other known concerns. But one thing you shouldn't do is panic, most of the concerns are minor and most can be corrected by the Volvo dealer. just have them check the TSB"S , otherwise you have a good car with an excellent engine that has PROVEN durability record, this engine (2.4) has been out since 1991 and is reliable. if you have any other question please just reply to this post.
Happy Motoring
