check the A/c 850 1996

We have a 96 850Turbo 4 door sedan. Make sure you talk to the person directly about the air-conditioning. These things seem to have chronic leaks in the evaporators which cost $1500 to repair, but it can be dealt with by adding freon (maybe even weekly during the hot summer months).

You can tell if they've had it checked because under the hood on the left side on the "black box" will be a sticker saying they've put tracer dye into the system to check for leaks that can be seen with a black light.

In your negotiations, ask them to knock $1,000-$1,500 off the price because you know this may ultimately have to be fixed. The weekly fix that I am doing is pretty easy and is documented heavily on this site. I bot a case of R134 refriderant at Sam's club for $24, about $2/can instead of $5/can at autoparts stores.

It performs well, looks good, but is sorta a "prissy-b*%ch". The automatic is ok/fun to drive and when the turbo kicks in , it is really fun. Ours is Red with black leather interior/spoiler/good wheels. Unfortunately the black leather also keeps it hot in the summer....
