AM Radio Static 850

Bought my first 855 a couple of weeks ago and recieved AM radio fine (GO RED SOX). This weekend I noticed alot of static on all AM stations. It is engine dependent. Any common radio/electical problems I should know about before I go crazy troubleshooting the car?
