Poor AM radio sensitivity....'99? S80

I assume you have a '99 S80? If so, the latest certified used car idea is to add a gold shim to the connection between the antenna coax cable and the amplifier and IF it's a good connection, it works great (improved AM reception) BUT I too had problem getting one of these to work correctly as the shim is not exactly an easy thing to properly fit w/o damaging the connection at that point.
The amplifier is bolted to the inside of the left "D" pillar, just in front of the rear window and you have to "carefully" remove that inner panel to get access to it. Re-installing that panel correctly can be a pain in itself.
IMHO, you'ld be better off having the same dealer tech fix your problem and he can fix it even though he might not be happy about it.
