Re-Circulation Swith 850 1995

The last comment has me confused. Is it harmful to the components of the A/C system to leave recirculation on? If so, why? On other cars I have owned it seemed running on recirculation was more efficient because the air was alread cooler and drier than outside air. So the desired interior temperature is reached faster and maintained with less energy. I don't remember reading in the 1995 manual a warning about leaving recirculation on.
