Rebuild the engine... over time.. and then keep and tweak it up!

I'll downgrade to a '90 245 for a daily driver/HomeDepot/dogwagon. Which I needed anyway.

Then in a few months begin to work on the 850.

Which leads to a new question.
Is it possible to do some or any of the labor myself?
Uninstalling and reinstalling? or anything???
On the shade tree mechanic scale of 1-10 I'd say I am currently a 5.
But willing to learn! Though I know this may not be the best project to learn on.

Also, remanufactured engine from volvo, any ideas of cost? Do they remanufacture mine ? How does that work?
That certianly seems better than buying a used one or having mine rebuilt.
Especially with the warranty.

Thanks alot for the advice and with this job ahead of me, I'm sure I'll be looking for some more knowledge from the volvo gurus of the brickboard!!
