burning oil 850

i drove out to school with my 96 850, that i recently bought. It hasnt been burning around town, however it burned a quart of oil on the trip. The trip is 1300 miles, and i sustain speeds of about 75 or 80 for about 12 hours a day stopping for only bathroom breaks. The rpms are at about 3k.

car has 126k and is a 5speed. Is this normal to burn oil like that? The cars last tuneup was at 75k also when the timing belt was done, distributor and wires are original. Im having them changed very soon, i wonder if that could cause the oil burning? Why would my engine burn oil? I have the compression checked before buying at a volvo dealer, 190+ on all cylinders. It also passed Nj emissions with flying colors (dyno test at 60mph, with computer probe in tailpipe).
