Easiest/Safest way to remove pinstriping. 850 1994

I have two royal blue stripes on a charcoal grey 854 and am just looking for a "cleaner" appearance. Anybody have any ideas as to what solvents and or utensils? I helped a friend remove two blue stripes off of white about two years ago and we used "Goo-Gone", fingernails, and a rag. Took forever and left quite a few swirls. Maybe there is something better, easier and safer for your paint? Ideas much appreciated, Stu.
