Alternator, When do they go??? 850

Hi All,

I have a 1995, Volvo 850 Wagon (5 Speed) with 115,000 miles on it. I do a fair amount of driving in some pretty remote parts of Maine and Canada and I can't afford a break down if it can be avoided. My question is; when do the alternators on these cars start to go? The volvo mechanic where I bought the car said they have replaced very few even cars in the 200,000 range.

What is your experience?

Car has been AWESOME>> May not handle like a BMW but it does everything else so well..
