So, what about 850s? 850

Hi there,

I used to own a '91 744, then an '88 244, and now a '94 854. I got my 4-door 850 with 72k miles for only $9995 here from a Volvo dealer in Southern California. I also got all service records and a clean CarFax. I would not pay that much for a '95 wagon. I miss the care-free operation of the 240, and would not really spend money on an 850 unless you enjoy babying your car. The 850 is a lot more pleasant to drive than older Volvos, but it requires a lot of attention to maintain or else it will eat out your pocketbook. If you can do a lot of work and maintenance yourself, get an 850 only if you appreciate the niceties and luxuries that it has to offer. Otherwise, I'd opt for a 940 due to it's rock-solid build and carefree engine and transmission.
