Poor AM radio sensitivity S80

My 2000 S-80 had intermittent AM reception since shortly after delivery in August 2000. After five - yes five trips to the selling dealer it was finally solved this year, under warranty. Each trip to the dealer resulted in them performing the same procedure - disassenbly and cleaning all connections between the radio and antenna. The result was the same on the first four trips - improved reception for less than a week, then static punctuated by occasional signals.

The fifth trip I talked with the service manager about the need to try something new. He mentioned the "new" strap fix from Volvo. They replaced a preamp and installed the strap and bingo...pretty decent AM radio reception. In addition to the local stations I can get an oldies station in Cincinatti from Northern Virginia. Not exactly a DX machine, but ok.
