Upgrade Wheels to 16' ? S70 1998

Stronger wheels, lighter wheels, or truer wheels all would be improvements. Larger wheels by themselves may not be an improvement. Lower profile might enhance handling, but two years ago Road & Track tested 4 different wheel sizes on a BMW and found the stock size to offer the best performance. Why - the suspension was tuned for the stock wheel size.

Summer and winter tires and wheels are your best bet.

Road & Track has also discussed why performance tires are a very poor choice for winter. Among other things, the softer rubber used in performance tires loses a good deal of its grip when it gets cold.

If you are going to buy new wheels and tires, why not use your present wheels for the winter?
