How long can I milk my brake pads..

My 98 S70 T5M(anual) is at 52K miles with original pads.
I checked them this weekend and they will need changing
in the next 5K miles. They could go longer but at this point
I'd rather have fresh pads.

Also, a set of pads is only about $45 from www.volvoparts.com
The instructions to replace are at http://volvospeed.com/bay13.htm.
Replacing the pads is a very easy do it yourself project.

But, it is very important you look at your pads and measure
them to see how much wear is left. We all drive differently
so comparing wear rates helps sets a trend but it is not really
applicable to any individual car. The first paragraph of the
brake change instructions at Bay13 tells you how you can eyeball
the pads to gauge the amount of wear.
