Who says Volvos are reliable? 850 1995

I have owned two Volvos in the past 3 years an '87 740 Turbo and now a '95 850 T-5R, and both have given me my fair share of problems. After towing my dead 850 to my mechanic the other day and paying a $525 reapair bill for a new starter, the car didn't even last a day. Tonight after I got out of work I went to go start my car and it was dead again. This time there was no power whatsoever, unlike before when the lights, windows, and everything else electrical worked. It eventually started after repeated jumps, but would not restart when I got home and shut it off. Would a new starter(which did work very well for 48 hours) cause a power loss of some kind? Does this sound like a bad alternator, spark plugs, or something else? Not even the window locks worked, and I just had a new battery installed about 2 months ago. I love Volvos but it seems like their electrical systems are of poor quality. If anyone has had anything like this happen to them, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
