a/c off and rec lites 850 1996

Hi! Quick question. Will the air con off and recirc lites flash if a/c system has a leak or is low on gas?

I have recently changed my evaporator and accumulator (1996 855 with ecc).

Before I did the job, the lites were flashing now and then, and after fault discovered but repaired, they seemed to flash nearly every time car started.

I dont have necessary tools to pull codes out through OBD plug.

Anyway, after job done, and battery reconnected, I expected the lites to flash still as no codes read/cleared, but they didnt. A/C blows cold and all ok. Memory cleared?

BUT, just twice since repair, lites have flashed again - but as said, all in a/c seems fine.

Reading through Haynes, all codes relate to electronic/sensor faults.

The only reason I say low gass is that on reassembly, I had been given the wrong 'O' rings to put in pipes going into evaporator (2 per pipe) and on advice from Volvo, re-used the old ones, which seemed perfectly ok.

And if they did leak, no major problems to replace.

So there you have it - but I'm now getting paranoid about a/c, and have it on so low sometimes to prove to myself it's working, it's making my teeth ache, and everyone in the car complains!!!
