Late model Volvo Radio Knob fix (SC-816+)

Does the volume knob on your radio look like somebody's dog chewed on it? Well...mine did. And it bugged me so much, that I spent a whole $3 to fix it (I had the radio out already to replace a burnt out bulb in it - $1.69 to fix that).

Steps to refinish it:
1) remove knob (I really hope you wouldn't try this with it on the radio)
2) thoroughly clean knob. If you do not do this, the paint will eat away at the rubber like coating and just peel off anyway.
- I used a mild solvent (gasoline worked just fine)
3) place knob somewhere you can get a few good coats of paint on it. next to my neighbor's escalade was an initial idea, but he's somewhat bigger than me. I do hate that thing...but I still couldn't do it. A cardboard box works great.
4) apply 3 - 4 even coats of Dupli*Color Charcoal M (DSGM 318) Auto Spray Paint ($3 at your local AutoZone). This paint matches the finish of the SC-816 radio perfectly. I'm amazed at how well it matches.
5) let it dry....
6) Put the knob back on.
7) Enjoy having a dash that all looks new now.

I'm picky as hell about things and I'm sure many of you are as well - this $3 fix made me $100 happier.
