1995 850 Turbo Wagon - gas tank leak 850 2001

I have a 1995 850 Turbo Wagon with 118,500 miles. I live in Phoenix, AZ where the summer temps are always above 100 degrees F. The gas tank has started to leak. The leak stopped after half the fuel in the tank was used up. This makes me think that the leak is along the seal. The tank was not struck or previously damaged in anyway that I am aware. The local Volvo dealership wants $750 to replace the tank. Are there any safe and reasonable alternatives to replacing the tank? For instance, can the tank be re-sealed?

Any thoughts, comments and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill M.
