Transmission Flush -Is dropping the oil in the pan as good as the coolant pipe method? 850

After recently purchasing a 94 T5 and reading some of the messages on this forum I realised that it was important I change my BROWN ATF fluid ASAP. Unfortunately and despite visiting approx 5 auto stores i have been unable to source any clear hose that will allow me to flush the ATF via the cooler pipe method. I know that it will be slightly more labor intensive to flush the oil if I dropped the oil from the pan, (eg. drop 3 litres, drive around for a while drop another three litres and repeat)but can anyone tell me if there are any other benefits to the coolant pipe flush method over the pan method? I could use a normal piece of hose to complete a flush but not seeing the bubbles which indicated that i had to switch the engine off makes me nervous!

I appreciate your feedback on this question
