BUT as I've said here before..................it's old and outdated now.

The last TSB regarding those shims was posted in '98 (over 4 yrs ago) and Volvo has newer rear brake pads with a rubbery backing that no longer requires those outdated shims. The ONLY time when those shims might still help is if you're given the old Volvo brake pads that needed those shims.
In my dealership, we use the current pads with Volvos silicon brake grease (applied to the back, 80s idea from Volvo for 700s that still works well) and we never see rear brake problems afterwords. We've never stocked or used those shims either btw.
