Tire Size Change C70 1999

It's not a dumb question. It took me a long time as well before I switched to 235/45s from the stock 225s. Going to a lower profile wasn't the thing I was worried about. The stock rims are optimized for 225s. 235s is already pushing (I got a call from Tirerack to confirm that I didn't mess up my order, they said that they are not responsible for me using 235s since they don't recommend it). You will have some serious (what I call) "eraser head" effects with the 245s. Imagine the tip of an eraser on a pencil. Notice how the eraser behaves as you move the pencil from side to side. You will experience that with the wider tires because your stock rims can't support it. Now if you go with an 8" or 8.5" wide rim, that's a whole different story. Those rims will not fit altogether without some fender modications to eliminate the rubbing.
