what does 854GTAS actually mean? 850

Was that a good motor? I'm told the car is a GLT yet carfax says only 850. What is GTAS? Any clues. The car has 186,000 miles. Good buy between $3500 and $4000? Interior pretty good exterior not bad sounds good. Need some straight volvo feedback.
