Just be careful not to get it on the paint...unless of course you mean to remove it =) Check over on the volvospeed message board, they've got some cool pictures of engines with the fuel rail/spark plug cover painted....and try www.s70concepts.com....nice pictures of a clean clean engine!

The K+N has a recharge kit you buy...I don't know if you soak it overnight (I think you just spray it)...but you're supposed to let it dry for like 24 hours before you reinstall it in the vehicle....like you said, don't want that extra oil in the combustion (although those of us with turbo have the fun of removing the TB hole and finding a nice greasy film of oil in there...or at least I do).

Does Nebraska have the bad road salting like Upstate NY?

I can't ever get all the little pits of brake dust off that collect at the corners of teh turbine. =(
