Center console wiring 850 1993

According to the Haynes manual it should be pretty easy to get to - just a couple of screws below the "power adaptor socket" element. Then it should lift out as a unit with wires and all. I think this would be the easiest place to tap into since the spot where I want to install the switch is less than a foot away, by the gear shift and parking brake. What I am also looking for though is which wire is which. If I do tap into the lighter wiring, which wires do I tap into for power and ground? It seems like once I identify the individual wires it should be a super-quick install - just splice the wires and replace the cover. Right? Wrong? Are there standard Volvo wiring rules? That is, is ground always one color, and power always one color? Is there a standard in 850s?
Thanks for all your input!
