T5s

Just means "turbo 5-cylinder". A few years black it became declase' to run around with a "Turbo" badge on the trunklid. Even SAAB, never a paragon of good taste, ditched them. I don't know the exact cutoff dates, and they may even vary by assembly plant, but early 850 turbos are badged "850 Turbo", late 850 turbos are just badged "T5".

The "850 R", "T5R" are turbos that often come in black, red, yellow and come with neat, brake-dust-colored 17" wheels, an Italian synthetic suede upholstery called "Alcantara", some suspension upgrades and a few more HP from a slightly massaged ECU. All 850 turbos officially imported to the US are automatics. Canada got some with 5-speeds, and a limited number of these may have made their way across the border.

The only model year with the low pressure turbo 850 GLT was 1997. Other years the 850 GLT was naturally aspirated only.

I have a white V70 T5 5-speed with beige CLOTH SEATS so T5s can be be reasonably discreet.

BTW, as a matter of conscience I NEVER recommend these cars to anyone else, but you're an adult and know what you're getting into!
