climate control Doe not work at all 850 1993

A burning wire smell came out of my vents after a heavy rain. I pulled the auto climate control out and there was a burn in it. No lights or temp controls work anymore. It is stuck on heat with a fan on high. When testing the ECC, no led lights flash at all. Everything else in the cars works.
1) Can I fix the board?
2) If I were to get a used replacement, assuming the car is dry, is the new unit likey to burn?
3) If it did not burn when replaced do I need to do anything special aside from just connect it?
