My 855t's mudgaurds were falling off as most of the rivets had pulled through. Here in Memphis winter won't bring any slush or snow worth mentioning but if you're getting ready for it, check yours. Mine only had a couple of rivets holding each on and I think they'd be lost if weighed down with slush. New rivets were .20 each at the dealer.
I was checking the brake pads for wear so it was the perfect time to fix the guards. With the wheel off you can use a diagonal cutter (wire cutter) to cut through any rivets that are hanging loose. If needed use a small cutter or X-Acto knife to trim the black plastic grommet from the head of any good rivets then cut them off.
The fender well liner can be pulled up out of the way after you remove the black plastic nut securing it to the stud in the well. The backs of any rivets can be caught or fished out with the liner pulled up.
You won't need backing washers on the rivets as they're scored and mushroom inside the fender when installed. Just line everything back up and with a standard pop rivet tool wail away. Too easy. Now I want guards for the rear.
