ABS light S80 1999

I have a 1999 S80 T6 with (I can't believe it either) 113,500 miles. I just got the ABS service light and my dealer told me that the code returned with his fancy-dancy computer indicates that the control needs to be replaced. The ABS system works for a while after the car starts and then returns after some (yet to be determined) amount of time. Is this control the main computer for the car or an auxillary board that is specific to the ABS? Is the ABS entirely electronic since it only modulates the braking?
