LOST CD/RADIO CODE-NON ORIGINAL RADIO- 850

Hi

After just recently sending my car to the dealers for a transmission diagnostic check-up (another story!)they've just informed me that the radio doesn't work because they and I do not know what the code is. It appears that the radio in the car is not the original that came when the car was new and that the only way it can be identified is via an expensive de-coding procedure.

Is this correct? I thought the serial number of the radio could be used to obtain the code.

Regards
Steve
