Help! I need O2 sensor advice 850 1997

Does anyone know of an inexpensive alternative such as "generic" O2 sensors. On MatthewsVolvoSite a guy called Rod said he used Bosch #15717 and spliced it to his old wires. I found out that this # is for a Ford Explorer. The problem is he didn't say if it was the before cat or after cat sensor that he replaced. Mine is a 2.4 850 1997; no R no Turbo just an 850. Any advice would be great!! Thanks
