If I get pulled over I'm screwed!! 850 1993

I don't give a damn what the insurance co. 'suggests'. I have never left my registration and insurance card in a glove box. Some years ago, a friend of mine and I were up in N.Y. state on our way to a sports car ralley. While we slept the sleep of the pure in heart, some clowns broke into his Healy 3000, and hot wired it. (Not a hard job on the older Brit sports cars) As his insurance card and registration were in the glove box he was royally screwed. They caught up with them a couple of days later, and they claimed he had 'lent' them the car. The car had considerable damage, and the insurance co. based on their having both his insurance card and registration, said he could not disprove their claim. After resorting to lawyers, etc, they agreed to pay a small portion of the repair bill saying, at the least his leaving the cards in the car was 'contributory neglegance'. I figure I don't need the grief. I carry the cards in my jacket wallet.

About opening the latch, I have used a very small pry bar, from Sears, wrapped with teflon tape (Plumbers teflon tape). I think they call it a "mini-bar."
