SC816 radio and 6 pin din out S70

I would like to add some subwoofers to my '99 S70 T-5. I already have an amp and speakers.I plan on using the 6 pin connector on the back of the head unit.My question is am I able to use the 6 pin connector for a line level source to my amp.I think I may have read somewhere that using the 6 pin cuts out the signal to the internal amps and speakers.Has anybody tried this? I am leaving my stock speakers the same at this point.I am only wanting to add my subs for more low end. Thanks for any help.
