The ODB-2 web site indicates that the software is designed for low cost laptops thus the memory limits. BTW, I think it shows that Mr. Peper didn't take the easy route churning megabytes of code and wasting other peoples memomory and CPU resorces (like majority of todays half baked programs do) just to accomplish simple tasks.
