exhaut tip V70-XC70 1998

Hey 850/911, do you have any idea why the filler plate in the bumper was there in the '98's and '99's when they didn't put them on the "R's" until the 2000 yr. model ??
And I have a couple of questions about the swap... on my '99 the incoming pipe goes into the drivers side muffler first, and then crosses over to the passenger side muffler, where it exits the factory tip. I saw one car where the owner cut an appropriate size hole in the drivers side muffler and installed a factory S.S. tip on it... it looked great, BUT, it made it louder. I think that most of the gas pressure was going out the drivers side first and little pressure could be felt out of the passenger side. Where does the input pipe connect on this dual system ? Secondly, do you get both mufflers, a crossover pipe and the pipe that goes into them ? Did you do the installation or did you take it to a muffler shop ? Weld in or bolt in ? I am looking forward to your answers. Regards, Tom
