Sunroof Stuck Open!! A Storm Approaches!! 850 1996

I drove my '96 850 Turbo home last night and can't get the sunroof shut. It gets as far as the mostly open automatic position and then won't go any further. In fact as I try to shut it, it hits that spot and then reverses to full open again. I've check the tracks, the liner and the roof housing and can't seem to find any obstruction. Is there something I'm missing? The motor is strong (got my finger caught between window and lip while feeling around for obstruction - ouch!).

I'm not mechanically inclined, but I'm willing to learn. It's Friday and haven't been able to locate a shop who has time to look at the problem today. There's a potential for a storm coming in this weekend and I don't have a garage.

The owner's manual does not indicate the existence of a manual override. Any suggestions?

Here's what happened:

A piece of the weather stripping came off the back side of the window. Doesn't appear to be a critical piece as the sun roof is still weather tight (a couple days of rain and the first few snows of the season put it to the test).

I don't know how much it's going to cost to have this piece reinstalled, but I'm definitely going to have to do it if I want the sunroof to operate without problems. Without it, the sunroof gets stuck when trying to close and makes a horrible sound as the glass scrapes against some metal.
