Electrical system going haywire 850 1995

Two common problems with 850s you might bring up with your mechanic:

The original battery has a short life. While this does not seem like
the issue for you, if it is still the original battery I would replace it.
The Volvo battery seems to last a bit under 4 years.

Ground straps to battery can corrode. Both ends of the cables that
connects to the battery should be checked. You see posts here every now
and then with this problem. If corrosion starts (more
common on the ground side) you start to see all sorts of odd electrical
problems. Note that working around a battery can be dangerous if you
are not familier with it (wear safety glasses and consider disconnecting
the groung lead at the battery before inspecting the cables ends).
