Shift moves into drive or reverse but nothing happens. Have I messed up a code? 850 1994

On my car (which is a 94 as well) after I check the codes for the ABS system the ABS light stays on until I drive fast enough for the car to initiate it's self-test (that crunch you hear around 15-20mph). After that the light goes off and remains off after each subsequent start (besides the normal brief second it’s on after a start).
I don’t believe anything you did computer wise could have messed up the tranny. Have you tried going through all of the gears slowly? Also, check to see if your tranny fluid is low. Let us know how it goes.
