either get a real electrical shop to diagnose it right (the diagnosis may well be expensive)

or disconnect the battery every time you turn the car off.

If anyone has told you to "turn off the power steering" you're shopping from the wrong mechanic or tech.

Do you need to jump start the car? Or does the car start just fine after sitting.

Is it the original battery? If it is, it's probably time to replace it after 7 years, take a look inside the battery at the water level.

If the battery has plenty of juice, and you don't need to jumpstart the car yet other items int he car lose their memories, you need to look for other causes than the battery and charging system. (and that really is a strange symptom if you think about it)
