Shifty and shiftless Volvo drivers... 850 1997

"Also, the 5-speeds are worth less on the "pre-owned" market and since 97% of Volvo buyers don't know or want to know a clutch from a soccer ball they tend to hang around the dealer's used car lots for ages. You might be able to engineer a trade with a dealer. Try e-bay, also, they show up there when the dealers get tired of looking at them."

That might be true for the sedans.... however I know that IF you can locate a 5-speed wagon (took me 3 years) they demand top dollar. Heck... mine ('94 with 207kmi) was just totalled by a tree falling on it and my insurance company cut me a check for over $8,500... if it had been a sedan I would have been very lucky to see $5,000

I plan on getting another 855.. but not till spring. I feel like it's wrong.. kinda like going out right away to replace the family dog with another. Anyways, I'm toying with buying a turbo or a nice platinum edition and doing a manual conversion... I'll keep y'all posted when it's in the works.
