Ever hear of something called J.A.T.O.? 850

Great story. I'm guessing he used something other than duct tape and baling wire to strap this thing to his Chevy. As far as staying on the road for 2+ miles, ever take the stick off a bottle rocket and just lay it on the ground? At 350mph in an Impala the road must have looked razor thin. I'm going to have to run a Hot Wheels scale experiment in my driveway and see how straight it goes!

Too bad this wasn't "caught on tape." Did you ever see the video of the guy with two small stub wings riveted to the doors of his '70s T-bird? Drove flat out (what, 90mph?) onto a steep launch ramp intending to "fly" across an obstacle. As soon as the car cleared the ramp, climbing at about 45degrees, the wings folded back like paper napkins and that fool fell like a stone.

Just remember, an idiot's famous last words are "hey, watch this!"
